God is to be our cover. As long as we are covered by Christ, We are right wh Although I like some other books by John Bevere, this book was based on an Old Testament view of leadership. As long as we are covered by Christ, We are right where we belong Aug 25, Bernadette rated it it was amazing. This book is very remarkable on its way of pushing people to hear the voice of God through every word.

I would say that every word in this book counts. I'm only on page 94 but it feels like I'm on the verge of revealing the plot. BUT I have to remember that this is not a story but is a compilation of the author's testimonies. This is definitely food for my soul. Sep 13, Chesney Infalt rated it it was amazing.

John Bervere teaches on the touchy subject of authority and opens eyes to the blessings you get when you submit.

Jan 01, Lindsey rated it it was amazing. It changed the way I viewed so many things. This book is packed with scripture and God has really given John Bevere wisdom. Jan 02, Shiloh rated it it was amazing Recommended to Shiloh by: Brian and Lisa Skaggs. View all 5 comments. Mar 12, Tanya rated it it was amazing Shelves: Why is every book by John Bevere so life changing? That sounded interesting and it was John Bevere, so that was enough for me to read it.

But I really believe it was God leading me to read the book because it spoke to me so much! God has dealt with me over the years about submission to authority as I tend to naturally buck it not so much anymore but I used to be really bad about it. This book is so eye-opening and especially the way he ties it into faith at the end of the book.

So so good! Sep 04, Joyce rated it did not like it Shelves: This is just another book used by abusive churches to brainwash people into believing the spiritual covering doctrine. So sad to find out that this author has been duped by this doctrine.

We are to submit one to another, not the very one-sided submission that is promoted in these books and thus in these churches. Jesus is the Head, not your pastor. We are to continually test the spirits and that includes so-called leaders. No one is infallible. Sep 17, Evan Roberts rated it really liked it Shelves: Deals with the issue of submission of heart.

For those in submission submit fully from the heart. For those in leadership do not be overburdensome. See yourself in the shoes of the other. And all will be well. Lord grant us a pure heart. It revealed the framework of submission to me in a new way. Mar 21, Anne Calvert rated it really liked it. Undercover, by John Bevere is a must read for anyone ready for the next level. It is full of scriptural truths and guidelines for our responsibilities under any form of authority.

This may not be a "fun book" or an easy pill to swallow, but it is a must read, must apply to one's life for anyone interested in walking in the fullness of God. The words in this book like lawlessness, obedience and submission, to name a few may be big and scary words, but no bigger or scarier than the consequences should we choose to continue to live in lawlessness.

I highly recommend this book. It opened my eyes to the rebellion in my life and made me view things differently at my jobs and given me a different approach towards the youth pastor I am directly under that makes me ask what can I do to help you? It has encouraged me to look again at authority and the "promise of protection under His authority". It's tough to change, but I know it's what God expects of me. Jun 25, Alex Apostol rated it it was amazing. I am amazed by this book. I wasn't that excited to read it at first, but once I started I couldn't stop.

I was given it by my post-encounter group at church and we went through it, chapter-by-chapter, as a group. It was so helpful in understanding what the Lord expects of me and how I can be protected under his cover.

I took so many notes in the margins! This is one I will definitely read again and again. This book has changed my life and my thinking. I thank God that He loves me so much that He would lead me into an encounter with him through the writings of one of His servants. Aug 31, Michael Cadorna rated it it was amazing. Sep 18, Renee rated it it was ok. Brought about some interesting thoughts however it didn't spoke of an angry, moody God and not a God who loves you regardless of your sins.

Apr 08, Brittney Slusher rated it it was amazing. This book is quite revealing to a true you and your lack of submission to authority. I love how God uses this complete stranger to lead my heart to a greater faith in Him. Aug 29, lisa lumley rated it it was amazing. Jan 08, Courtney rated it it was amazing. This book was mandatory reading for leadership in a church I attended. I was inspired in such a way that I spent many hours of prayer and self searching to be able to right any wrongs against those in authority for my entire life. I called step-parents, old high school teachers, and former employers. This book has been argued by many that it is a patriarchal totalitarian scare tactic used to manipulate believers into submission.

I disagree completely and find that that opinion comes from flighty This book was mandatory reading for leadership in a church I attended.

I disagree completely and find that that opinion comes from flighty Christians that mistake their emotions with the Holy Spirit. Deep in their flesh, there is pride that does not see God as King of Kings. Christian how to books can't do any good for the reader if they do not take it to the Lord, and his word.

Faith is essential in applying any new teaching. I had to apply faith years after I read this book with the very Pastor that had asked his people to read it.

Applying this teaching and submitting to God in faith delivered me from a very nasty scandal , that I am in awe of what he did based on my obedience to the teachings found in this book. Many people throw this book up as a way of pointing out what they assume the Pastor's motives were and I am free of contempt and bitterness. I am a better person because I had been equipped by this book and the author's personal testimoney to handle a storm I would have never expected.

I wonder if I would still be going to church if I did not heed the teachings in this book. If you are church hurt, you are going to argue with God a lot, but if you love him, he will win and you will be stronger in character after applying the author's suggestions. If you are American and love democracy or had helicopter parents, you may very well look totally different after reading this book.

If you are a charismatic and just do what you think the spirit says without cross referencing with the word, you might reject this book. If you are part of a church congregation that uses its authority over the pastor to make him to submit to the mob's wishes, it might be cheaper to just download firewood because this book will burn your flesh.

It is written in simple words, and backed up by scripture. Very easy to read ,just hard for some to swallow. Aug 18, Adrienna rated it liked it Shelves: This book spoke on obedience, subjected under authority, and disobedience and how these factors can have a bearing on your life's decisions and loose out on your very blessings and covering under God. The chapter s that spoke the most to me and highlighted or marked up my book, where I was so receptive to its teachings was Chapter 5 and especially Chapter 6 on "the Consequences of Disobedience 1 and 2".

I was also able to see my own flaws, faults, and disobedience that may have been overlooked This book spoke on obedience, subjected under authority, and disobedience and how these factors can have a bearing on your life's decisions and loose out on your very blessings and covering under God.

I was also able to see my own flaws, faults, and disobedience that may have been overlooked and viewed as acceptable in God's eyes because I obeyed partially. John Bevere states blatantly two key points in these chapters, "faith and obedience are inseparable because obedience is evidence of true faith" and other quote is "partial obedience is not obedience at all in the eyes of God".

Therefore, I do not want to be open access to demonic forces or powers, and rebellious behaviors viewed as "witchcraft" or "acts of Satan". My favorite read is still "The Bait of Satan", when many of us even in the church are facing offense.

This is my second book I've read by this author and plan to view more in the near future. I did win his novel years ago in a contest and plan to read this soon! Aug 13, Erin rated it it was amazing Recommends it for: Anyone seeking to understand true spiritual authority.

This was an amazing book that God trul convicted me through in the area of submission, and God showed me His truths through it. He showed me just how serious Jesus was in regard to submission and rebellion. God showed me that He also wants us to submit in the family unit-to our parents-regardless if they are saved yet or not. I realized through John Bevere's personal example of being blinded by rebellion towards parents that God truly places His wisdom on them even if they aren't saved.

He place This was an amazing book that God trul convicted me through in the area of submission, and God showed me His truths through it. He places His wisdom on them for us.

I realized that submission makes everything easier on our part, because it truly is resting in the shadow of His wings and being "under cover". Sep 12, Ruth rated it it was amazing. The is another excellent book by John Bevere. It explores and highlight the absolute necesity for the Christian to walk in obedience to God.

It explains what will happen to those who disobry God and the protection that is freely availible to the Christian who chooses to live a life of obedience to God.

The light of God's word exposes deception and discerns the thoughts and intentions of the hearts of men. On the subject of the consequences of disobedience Bevere says 'He God lifts his hand of p The is another excellent book by John Bevere.

But in Americanized christianity, the "pastor" has been put on a throne that the Word does not establish. The pastor hears from God and then translates it to you. Anyone can decide one day they heard from God, start a church, and they are immediately Moses.

This is open season for abuse and is not biblical. Yet Mr Bevere gave no examples of divine retribution for bad leaders as they damage life after life.

This creates a perfect environment for spiritual abuse. Paperback Verified download. This book was a very good read. It met and exceeded my expectation. It is holistic in its approach beginning with defining sin, kicking against the goads to the overarching theme of whoever resists the authority that God has set in place resists God. We have to honor positions of authority beyond personality, whether we think they should have the position or not.

We should not slander governmental authority as this action is antichrist. We are to be respectful to the office they hold because God put them there. Even if you think they are not behaving correctly honor them, God is the one who brings judgment. If you are dissatisfied with your leaders you will complain, and complaining leads to insubordinate behavior. Criticizing authority shows a lack of the fear of the Lord. I highly recommend this book. We must be willing and obedient.

As a leader, my first required reading for team members is this book, after the bible. Most people don't know how to submit to authority. Most see authority as someone trying to "tell them what to do", not recognizing their behavior as rebellion.

I have given this book away countless times and just ordered 2 more copies. All I can say is dont waste your time. Read Rob Bell's book" what is the Bible" cause once you see, you cant unsee and once you taste, you cant un taste. Life is a beautiful thing. Stop searching for his covering when its already there. Go enjoy this world that God intended for us to enjoy.

This book was required reading for a class I am taking. I'm so glad it was recommended. I was wrecked by it! So good!

Just when I read chapter 13, my first test came. And I failed! But to God be the Glory for bringing my mind back to Him, after my anger subsided! I now know that I am not as humble and obedient to authority as I thought I was! I thank God for His Grace and Mercy! I am a work in progress, as they say! I will keep fighting for my salvation until the day I die! This book was not what I initially thought it would be, it was better! Through scriptural teaching, Under Cover exposes our vulnerability when we do not obey and submit to authority.

This book took me to whole new level of understanding in this area. Thank you for obeying the Lord and writing this book. Highly recommend. It's my household and I set the rules and 2. They are children and they are not capable of running a household and 3.

How does it look for a child to discipline a parent But this happens in the Christian churches of American today We can follow the order and commands in other places but church Hahahaha the devil got us fooled and this is where Proverbs 5: So in the end I ask: Can a student teach the teacher? Can a coach be coached by a team player? Can a child discipline a parent? And, yes, we have corrupt pastors, preachers, etc.
